What is Stand Up Paddleboarding?
Stand Up Paddleboarding, is a water sport born from surfing with modern roots in Hawaii. Stand Up Paddleboarding is a combination of Kayaking and surfing, where you stand on board that are floating on the water using a paddle to propel yourself through the water. Located in & around Southsea, The Watersports Hub is open for Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Private Lessons, Group Sessions, SUP Tours, SUP Hire, SUP Yoga and SUP Pilates, Mindfulness & Meditation.
What is Kitesurfing?
Kite Surfing is a wind powered surface watersport using a kite and a board to move across the water. Kite surfing harnesses the power of the wind through a large parachute type kite to propel a rider across the water on a small kiteboard. The Watersports Hub offers both private and group Kite surfing Lessons from beginner taster lessons to progression, advanced and pro coaching lessons.
What if the weather conditions are not suitable for my lesson?
Safety is our priority and when we see that the weather is not suitable, we will contact you in advance of your lesson & reschedule your course for a later date of your choice.
Are the instructors qualified?
At the Watersports Hub we pride ourselves in Easy Riders owner Andy Gratwick wrote the book on how to kitesurf, he is also the BKSA and BSUPA head of training. Hence he personally hand picked the best BKSA ( British Kitesurfing Association) and BSUPA ( British SUP Association) instructors in the country. You couldn’t be in better hands with our instructor team.
Where are the lessons located?
Just a short drive from London, Southsea & the surrounding areas offer a variety of conditions to suit our sports. The Watersports Hub currently operates as a mobile hub, enabling an adaptable service offering for the conditions required for our sports. We operate off Eastney Beach, Langstone Harbour, Hilsea, Chichester Harbour & Hayling Island. Our locations will be specified in each booking and we ensure that all locations that we operate at are in close proximity to public parking & public toilets.
Can children attend a lesson?
Unfortunately we are not licenced to enable minors (under 18’s) to attend lessons without their legal guardian on the water or within full eye and ear shot at all times during the session.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes we require that all customers can swim a minimum of 50 meters in open water. Customers will be given a buoyancy aid indexed at 50 newtons of flotation to keep you afloat throughout your lesson.
Can we store our valuables?
Unfortunately we can not take responsibility for storing valuables. We advise that you do not bring anything that is particularly valuable, or carry a waterproof bag to take on the water with you.
What equipment do we provide?
If you book an activity with us, we will provide you with the equipment required. Stand up paddleboard lessons include a paddleboard, paddle, safety leash, fin & a buoyancy aid unless specified otherwise.
